Cimsa Americas Cement Man & Sales Corp.; is a subsidiary of Cimsa Cement San. Tic. A.S., World’s Biggest White Cement Supplier, located in Houston/Texas.

The Operations & Maintenance Supervisor role is based at our Cimsa Americas Cement Manufacturing & Sales Corp. located in Houston, TX and reports directly to the Operations Manager.  

The Operations & Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of Houston Facility in Texas which has a total production volume of approximately 300,000 TPY. The position will have 15-20 direct reports (hourly employees).

What You’ll Get to Do

  • Schedule and supervise the work to maintain equipment to meet production requirements.
  • Oversee the work performed by maintenance crews and outside contractors as required for each job to ensure completion in a timely and quality manner.
  • Manage any urgent or breakdown jobs as required to keep equipment running and minimize downtime.
  • Provide development of direct reports and motivates staff resulting in a reliable and competent work force.
  • Provide technical assistance to operation and maintenance personnel toward expedient problem resolution.
  • Execution of these specific duties will be achieved through the following:
  • Schedule, assign, plan and monitor the work of operation and maintenance shop personnel to ensure completion of the tasks in a timely and quality manner.
  • Coordinate and communicate anticipated jobs and provide input when stores stocks need to be increased or altered, for upcoming jobs to maintain operation and maintenance schedules.
  • Coordinate with management team to develop work schedules, equipment usage schedules, priority of mechanical expenditures and procedures for equipment and appliance maintenance to meet overall plant goals.
  • Provide schedule and plan the lubrication of entire facility.
  • Monitor and execute the vibration analysis of the entire facility to oversee potential failures.
  • Maintain time, work orders, materials, equipment and other mechanical shop records and submit reports to plant management to contribute to the continual evaluation of operational efficiency and costs.
  • Determine appropriate training for employees and evaluating their skills, abilities, safety practices and behavior to maintain the necessary skills to perform their jobs.
  • Plan the schedule of the staff including assigning work and overtime as required to meet operation and maintenance needs.
  • Ensure the application of the plant’s rules of conduct and health & safety protocols during operation and maintenance procedures to minimize injuries and lost time incidents.
  • Participate in weekly safety meetings and provide feedback on unsafe working conditions or signs of equipment breakdowns.
  • Provide ongoing maintenance support to the plant for all shifts by participating in the plant’s on call program. This includes evaluating and determining the course of action for maintenance incidents after hours and on weekends while on call and may require on-site supervision of the resolution to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Ensure that Maintenance department tools and equipment are in good working condition and that adequate stocks of consumables are maintained to allow maintenance activities to occur as scheduled.

Essential Experience and Skills

  • 10 years of operations, mechanical repair and maintenance experience which includes 5 year of Maintenance supervision experience
  • Prior Operation & Maintenance Supervision experience in cement operation preferred.
  • Prior experience working with large heavy industry machinery and equipment.
  • Demonstrate ability to lead others.
  • Solid organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with SAP
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products including MS Excel and Word.
  • Ability to anticipate and adapt to changing situations.
  • Willingness to provide coverage during off-shift hour and weekends as required

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • High School Diploma or relevant experience
  • Experience managing vendors and contractors

Work Environment

  • Role operates in a manufacturing environment with moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, elevated noise levels, and dusty conditions
